Sociology

Sociology is one of the branches of the humanities and social sciences that studies the social life of human beings, institutions, relationships, and the structures of society. It is the science that examines social life, social change, and the causes and consequences of human behavior. Sociologists analyze the structure of societies, the role of institutions such as family, religion, education, and government, collective interactions, social differences such as social class, gender, race, and ethnicity, as well as values, norms, and cultural processes.

Given the importance of this discipline in understanding and analyzing contemporary social issues, sociology is offered in many prestigious universities around the world and in Iran. At the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili, the undergraduate program in sociology was established in 2021 (1400 AH), and in 2023 (1402 AH) the master’s program was also added. The university currently admits students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
