The Department of English Language Teaching was established in 2008 by offering Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) at Bachelor’s degree. It started to offer Linguistics and Teaching Persian as a Foreign Language in 2013 and TEFL in 2014 at Master’s degree. Currently, the Department of English offers TEFL to international students at both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. It is initiating to offer TEFL at PhD degree to both Iranian and international students. This department with one retired member and five full-time members is engaged in education and research in the domains of Applied Linguistics and Linguistics.

Welcome to the Department of English! This department was established in 2008 and is primarily known for its Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and Linguistics programs. The options for TEFL include the undergraduate level (BA) and graduate level (MA and PhD). Our Colleagues in Linguistics are currently offering General Linguistics at and Teaching Persian as a Foreign Language at MA level.
English department is home to would-be teachers seeking to make an impact on their society through teaching foreign languages and in particular English. It also aims to educate researchers who intend to get involved intimately in researching the domains of teaching and linguistics.
Our dedicated faculty and staff are striving to inspire prospective language teachers to function efficiently in classroom settings to change students through insightful teaching. Representing diverse fields of interest, the faculty members of the department are involved in teaching different courses and researching in areas connected with Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, and Teacher Education.
A plethora of MA theses have been completed so far on different issues in Applied Linguistics and Linguistics and a large body of articles have been published in flagged Iranian and International journals. Many books have also been published by the department members too.
