The Department of Art has started its activities in 2008 by accepting the first batch of undergraduate students in the field of handicrafts and with two faculty members. Then, with the approval of recruiting students in the undergraduate degree of Islamic Art as the second major, Art continued. During 2012-2013, with the recruitment of four faculty members, the Bachelor of Arts in Painting was added to this group. In 2013, with the approval of the Ministry of Science to recruit students for the Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Communication, this field began its activities as the fourth field of the Art Department.
Bachelor's Degree in Handicrafts:
Handicrafts is one of the fields where students can learn the authentic and traditional arts of Iran. This field enables students to create traditional Iranian works by teaching: painting, calligraphy, woodcraft, pottery, carpet design and weaving, glass workshop, and metalwork.
Handicrafts are an art that cannot be said to be specific to a specific region, and throughout history, we have witnessed the dynamic flow of this art everywhere in the world, especially in our country, Iran. The field of handicrafts was formed with the aim of training professional, enthusiastic and talented artists and specialists to achieve the best results by relying on their knowledge, art and creativity. The form conveys the rich and authentic culture of our country to individuals and other countries of the world. This art form is much more practical than other art forms. The art of handicrafts in any region represents the beliefs, culture, customs and traditions of that region.
Graduates of this field can engage in research or undergraduate work in Iran's cultural heritage, handicrafts, and tourism, the General Directorate of Museums, and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. They can also work by establishing workshops to create works that have a practical, museum, and decorative aspect.
Such workshops include:
• Setting up handicraft production workshops.
• Working in a wood arts workshop (carving, mosaic, lattice, volume, etc.).
• Workshop for making various types of functional and decorative pottery.
• Carpet design and weaving workshop.
• Working in workshops producing glazes for pottery and tiles.
• Designing traditional motifs for various fields of handicrafts.
• Workshop for making various types of metalware, engraving and carving on it.
• Designing and producing handicrafts (pottery, engraving, carpets, wood, etc.).
Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Art:
The Islamic Art field has a long history in prestigious universities around the world, and this field trains specialists in several areas. At the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili, the Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Art, with a focus on calligraphy and painting, has attracted students and has been able to train prestigious artists in this field for several consecutive years.
The characteristics of Islamic art and culture in Iran during the Islamic era are the result of the efforts and activities of artists who were raised in the lap of Islamic culture. The technical and aesthetic characteristics of the works of the Islamic era have always been consistent with the worldview of the Muslim artist. The Muslim artist sought to create understanding and interaction between form and meaning and to satisfy the material and spiritual needs of man. In the stage of creating a work of art, technical skill is combined with religious knowledge, and thus the work of art, in addition to having an important aspect of application, also has an esoteric aspect and religious concepts. The word tradition, in the broad sense of the word religion, is considered an important implication of the presence of Iranian art in ancient and Islamic times.
Graduates of this field, in addition to being able to be recruited into art-related institutions, including education, Islamic culture and guidance, cultural heritage, and tourism, have the opportunity to work in this field by establishing art workshops.

Painting is one of the oldest visual arts fields in Iran. Entering this field has a lot to do with an individual's taste and interest in this art, which should be selected according to the person's spiritual abilities. The characteristics of being creative and idea-driven are among the requirements for entering this academic art field. Painting, which is one of the main fields of visual arts, is It is considered an art mixed with the human spirit and soul, which originates from within. By painting, one can create and experience another type of connection with others. One can express feelings, emotions, desires and perspectives towards everything and every person in a way that is unique to oneself; perhaps language is not able to express them. Because To be able to create a work of art with a broader perspective, one must know colors well and learn different painting styles correctly. By completing academic courses, valuable paths will be opened for those interested in this art. Painting is one of the artistic professions that can be practiced completely independently, in collaboration with private and government organizations, or in The form of an interdisciplinary subject is also relevant. The artist in this field can also teach painting in his personal studio or in a public space, depending on his qualifications and skills in painting or a valid certificate in this field.
Drawing and painting workshops are offered in this course from levels 1 to 7. Students will be introduced to all styles and techniques of this field and will also gain the necessary skills in restoration of works, murals, Iranian paintings, analysis of works, and digital painting.
A graduate of a bachelor's degree in painting can have a good career future, depending on their skills, experience, painting style, and creativity. Employment in education, the Islamic Culture and Guidance Department, teaching painting in schools, holding exhibitions to sell works, or taking commissions to create artwork can all bring in good income.
Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication (Graphics):
Graphic art is the art of drawing lines, writing, and creating visual patterns on a surface to convey a specific message to the audience. This field is one of the important branches of visual arts that has diverse and extensive applications in both the field of publishing and printing and the digital field. Graphics is an art that, based on a mainly commercial or cultural order and need, creates a formThis is the main difference between graphic art and painting. In graphic art, the designer must answer the question of what the requested order wants from him, then, based on the research and studies he conducts, both visually and in the form of a library, he arrives at a concept that he must express in the best and simplest way. In fact, The commission and the research it conducts are the most important source of inspiration. During their studies, students become familiar with the most up-to-date topics in the field of graphics in the world, its importance and applications.
Familiarity with all branches of graphic design in this field allows students to discover their talents and interests, pursue one or more specific branches, and move towards becoming professionals. Graphic design encompasses a wide range of visual skills; poster and billboard design, sign design, headers, book covers, and publications, page layout, sign design, advertising design, and Brochures, catalogs, office papers, folders, letter design, typography, printing and publishing, film titling, motion graphics, visual identity design, etc. are among the skills acquired in this field.
Graphic design is one of the growing and very practical jobs. This field has a very good job market inside and outside Iran. Depending on the level of activity, expertise, experience, innovation, effort and perseverance, a designer can enter the professional job market in any of the different branches mentioned. Among the high-paying jobs in this field in Iran are logo design, animation creation, advertising teasers, and web page design.
