The department of Psychology is the first department founded in faculty of educational sciences and psychology. This department provides quality education and research in the branches of Clinical, General psychology and Exceptional Children at the level of fundamental and applied. It managed to train students with high research and clinical skills. So that, many of graduates have been able to employ governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Establishment and Overview:

The Department of Psychology launched Bachelor of Psychology program in 1997. Also, this department could launch Master of General Psychology program in 2003, and the Doctor of Psychology program in 2008 at the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili In the following years, the specializations of clinical psychology and exceptional children were added to the psychology department at the master's level.

Educational Programs:
The department offers a range of programs designed to meet the needs of diverse students. These programs include:


Undergraduate Program
(B.Sc.) in Psychology: This program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of concepts and branches of Psychology. The focus is on building a strong foundation that prepares students for more advanced studies or professional work.


Master’s Program (M.Sc.) in General Psychology
This program allows students to be expert in different fields of psychology, especially in acquiring research and training skills.



Master’s Program (M.Sc.) in Clinical Psychology
 In this program, Students receive theoretical and practical training about diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.



Master’s Program (M.Sc.) in Psychology and Educational of Exceptional Children
In this program, the students learn about needs and characteristics of exceptional children. Also, they receive theoretical and practical training about working with exceptional children and training.  



Ph.D. Program in Psychology
The doctoral program offers an opportunity for students to engage in high-level research, focusing on producing original contributions to the field of Psychology. Doctoral students work closely with faculty members and collaborate on research projects.




Research Focus:
The members of department of psychology study in the many of fields of psychology and are conduct extensive research in clinical psychology, learning and educational psychology, exceptional children, health psychology, personality and development, psychometrics and social psychology.


Facilities and Resources:
The department is equipped with psychological laboratory, including instruments, tests, software, training films, and  modern systems. These facilities provides an environment for teaching and research activities.

The Department of Psychology at UMA is staffed by a team of highly qualified and dedicated faculty members. These professors contribute national and international psychology research in their respective fields. They are actively involved in mentoring students and guiding them through academic and professional challenges.
The department also fosters collaboration with other academic institutions, both within Iran and globally. By hosting workshops, national and international conferences, and publication of journals, the department ensures that students and faculty have the opportunity to engage with the broader mathematical community.
