Archaeology interprets and reconstructs the past of man (humankind) based on tangible and intangible remains. When we talk about archaeological data, our thoughts turn to the remains of the past such as manuscripts, tools and equipment, the remains of houses and cultural artifacts that fill our museums; therefore, the main subject of archaeology is man and the human artifacts that mankind has created over time, intentionally or unintentionally (consciously or unconsciously). The approach to the past based on archaeological knowledge is the use of the past to solve the problems and issues of contemporary society in various fields, including cultural, social and economic. The field of archaeology is one of the first academic disciplines at the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili; Today, it has established one bachelor's degree, three master's degrees in the fields of (archaeology-prehistory, archaeology-historical period, archaeology-Islamic civilization and culture of Iran) and three specialized doctoral degrees (Ph.D.) in the fields of (archaeology-prehistory, archaeology-historical period, archaeology-Islamic period). In addition, the Archaeology Department of the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili has been in line with global approaches to new trends in this academic field. With the introduction of topics such as "sustainable development", "green issues" and "site management", the knowledge of "Cultural Heritage Management" was created as an interdisciplinary knowledge to create new business spaces from cultural heritage sites in line with the development of tourism and cultural assets of the country. The Archaeology Department of the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili is one of the first academic educational groups in the country to establish the field of cultural heritage management-orientation of historical buildings and cultural sites at the master's level and accepts students. The Department of Archaeology University of Mohaghegh Ardabili, with regard to its scientific and experimental capacities, as well as professors who have conducted academic research in the field of applied archaeology to the level of a doctoral thesis, established the field of Cultural Heritage Management - Orientation to Historical Buildings and Cultural Sites. The knowledge of cultural heritage management is an approach derived from modern approaches that, while preserving all functions, including cultural, political, and social, for cultural heritage, also pursues its sustainable conservation and introduction. Cultural heritage management with a comprehensive and holistic approach creates spaces, opportunities, and employment fields for archaeologists and includes important topics such as heritage law, conservation and budget management, business skills with cultural heritage, and most importantly, interpretation and subsequent sustainable development. The move to prepare the next generation of archaeologists with a set of skills necessary for the success of archaeology and the development of cultural heritage in Iran is essential.
