According to the Public Relations Office of the Energy Management Research Center at Mohaghegh Ardabili University, the Faculty of Engineering successfully hosted the PhD dissertation defense of Kasra Mehrabanifar, a doctoral candidate in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems), on June 2, 2026.
Mehrabanifar presented his dissertation, titled “Enhancing the Resilience of Modern Distribution Networks through the Placement of Distributed Energy Resources and Power Switches against Destructive Weather Events Caused by Climate Change,” which addresses a pressing challenge in contemporary power engineering.
Conducted under the supervision of Prof. Hossein Shayeghi and with the advice of Dr. Abdollah Younesi, the research provides a robust framework for improving the resilience of power distribution infrastructure against climate-induced hazards, such as floods, severe storms, and freezing conditions. By leveraging advanced modeling approaches, the study offers scalable solutions for maintaining grid stability and reliability under emergency conditions.
The dissertation was evaluated by an academic committee chaired by Prof. Hossein Shayeghi, with Dr. Abdollah Younesi serving as advisor. The panel of examiners also included Dr. Seyed Jalal Seyed Shenava, Dr. Abdul Majid Dejamkhooy, and Dr. Saeed Jalilzadeh as internal and external examiners.
