Petrology and Mineralogy Laboratory
Welcome to the Petrology and Mineralogy Laboratory of the Geology Department.
The Petrography and Mineralogy Laboratory of the Department of Geology at Mohaghegh Ardabili University serves as one of the specialized units supporting both education and research in the field of Earth Sciences. The laboratory has been established to enhance students’ practical knowledge and to provide a suitable environment for scientific studies and research related to the identification, description, and analysis of various rocks and minerals. The laboratory is equipped with advanced polarizing microscopes, sample preparation instruments, and an extensive collection of representative rock and mineral specimens from regional and global sources. Through practical exercises and research activities, students gain hands-on experience in examining the physical, optical, and structural characteristics of geological materials, thereby strengthening their proficiency in microscopic and petrographic analyses.
