Wood and Paper Laboratories
Cellulose Industries Laboratory
This laboratory is located in the workshop complex of the Wood and Cellulose Products Industries Group behind the Sabalan building. It is used for educational and research activities of undergraduate and graduate students to perform various chemical curing and paper production at the laboratory level.
Digester
To make primary paper pulp from wood and chemicals, semi-chemicals, thermal pulping studies, and bleaching are used in the pulp and paper industries.
Refiner
It is a device used in the pulping stage. The main task of the refiner is to break down wood fibers and improve the properties of paper pulp. In the pulping stage, wood fibers and other related materials are combined with water to form paper pulp. However, in the initial pulp, the wood fibers may be in a pasty and sticky state. To convert this initial pulp into a final pulp that is suitable for paper production, a refining process is required. The refiner is used in this stage. This device uses discs with similar blades to mechanically break down wood fibers and convert them into uniform fibers. This process separates and separates the fibers and improves the properties of the pulp. Using a refiner to reduce fiber size, increase the surface area of fiber engagement, and improve particle size distribution leads to improved uniformity and increased paper strength. Also, the refiner improves the preparation of pulp with specific properties such as wettability, adhesive strength, etc. Refiners are used as one of the main components of the papermaking production line and are very important in the papermaking industry.
Furniture workshop
This workshop is located in the Wood and Cellulose Products Industries Group workshop complex located behind the Sabalan building, where various educational and research activities, including training and how to identify types of wood and composite wood products and the construction of wooden structures, are used by undergraduate and graduate students. This workshop is equipped with the following tools and equipment.
Table saw
This type of cutting machine has many applications in the wood and carpentry industry, including using a table saw for various cuts along the length of wood, cutting wood based on its thickness and dimensions, making various transverse cuts in MDF and chipboard, and cutting lumber according to the diameter and blade model.
Band saw
This machine uses a flexible band blade that rotates around two large wheels to make a variety of jigsaw cuts. Unlike circular saws that are designed for straight and straight cuts, this machine can make curved, complex and angled cuts with high precision, without damaging the texture or pattern of the wood. This feature makes it an ideal choice for making classic furniture, decorative wooden structures, cutting thin metals, even making musical instruments and model making.
Pulp and paper laboratory
This laboratory is located on the top floor of Building No. 1 of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources. It is used both as a research center for paper recycling and for educational and research activities, including the production of recycled paper pulp and the analysis of chemical compounds of wood, which includes the following devices.
Laboratory pulper
Converting paper waste into pulp Preparing raw materials for the next steps
Paper Flowing Machine
The pulp flow meter is used to measure the amount of free water in the pulp. This test is specifically performed to evaluate the speed at which water passes through the pulp. The number obtained from this test has a direct impact on the quality of the final paper and its production process. In the papermaking industry, this device is used as one of the key tools in controlling pulp quality and managing production processes. Accurate information about pulp flow helps manufacturers adjust the consistency and quality of the pulp and ultimately produce high-quality paper.
Lignocellulosic Materials Anatomy Laboratory
This laboratory is located in the Wood and Cellulose Products Industries Group workshops complex behind the Sabalan building. It is used to separate and analyze the chemical compositions of lignocellulosic materials such as cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin and extractives and various chemical treatments. This laboratory includes the following equipment.
