Physical and Mechanical Properties Laboratory

In this laboratory, students (Mechanization – Mechanics of Biosystems) work on various experiments. The laboratory equipment includes: Sentam device, spectrometer, hyperspectral camera, pH meter, refractometer, and a thermal camera.
Santam Device: Santam devices are used in various engineering fields. Their applications include mechanical property testing of materials, determining strength and mechanical properties of agricultural products, analyzing material behavior in different environments, and rheological/viscoelastic tests.
VNIR Spectrometer: The Visible-Near Infrared Spectrometer (VNIR) measures and analyzes light in the visible (400–700 nm) and near-infrared (700–2500 nm) regions. It is used to study reflectance and absorption characteristics of materials, providing information about the chemical and physical structure of samples. It is applied in areas such as quality evaluation of grains, fruits, vegetables, and livestock feed, detecting contamination or adulteration in food products, and mineral identification based on reflective properties.
Hyperspectral Camera: This technology analyzes the optical composition of materials and enables identification, classification, and study of their chemical and physical properties. Unlike conventional cameras that work in only three color bands (RGB), hyperspectral cameras record data across hundreds of spectral bands in various wavelength regions. Each pixel contains a full spectrum representing the chemical or physical composition of the sample. The data is stored as a three-dimensional cube (X, Y, and spectral dimension).
pH Meter: A laboratory device used to measure the pH (potential of hydrogen) of solutions, indicating their acidity or alkalinity on a scale from 0 to 14.
Refractometer: A scientific instrument used to measure the refractive index of materials. Based on light refraction, it provides information about concentration, purity, or composition of various substances (liquids, solids, or gases).


 
Laboratory of Strength of Materials

The laboratory is used by Biosystems Engineering students. Equipment includes an oscilloscope, creep testing machine, and fatigue testing machine.
Oscilloscope: An electronic instrument for visualizing, measuring, and analyzing electrical waveforms over time. It displays signals as 2D graphs, helping engineers observe waveform shape, measure amplitude and frequency, detect noise, and analyze pulse width and time delay.
Creep Tester: A device designed to study material behavior under long-term loading at high temperatures, used to evaluate resistance to deformation (creep).
Fatigue Testing Machine: Used to study material behavior under cyclic or repetitive loading to evaluate fatigue failure resistance.


 
 
Workshop  of Agricultural Machinery

The workshop familiarizes students of Biosystems Engineering with various agricultural machinery used in different farming operations. Available tools and equipment include:
  • Different types of tractors: pull-type, semi-mounted, mounted, and articulated
  • Primary tillage tools: moldboard plow, disc plow, chisel plow
  • Secondary tillage tools: cultivator, disc harrow, spike-tooth harrow
  • Planting tools: seed drill, row planter, potato planter, alfalfa seeder
  • Cultivation tools: sprayers, fertilizer spreaders
