Professor Hossein Shayegi, Head of the Energy Management Research Center and Provincial Head of the Iranian Energy Association in Ardabil Province, emphasized the importance of renewable energy and the need for skills-based training courses in this field, during a cordial meeting with Dr. Sefidi, President of the University of Applied Science and Technology in Ardabil Province.
According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Applied Science and Technology in Ardabil, in this friendly discussion, Professor Shayegi, who is among the top 1% of the world’s most cited scientists, stressed the urgent need for practical and vocational training in the area of renewable energy, especially in today’s social and economic climate. He particularly highlighted research activities in energy management and consumption.
He proposed that summer breaks be utilized to engage students, school pupils, and researchers in practical activities such as hands-on renewable energy training, career orientation, and motivational seminars. These, he noted, could be highly effective as part of constructive summer programs.
Professor Shayegi, himself a faculty member at the University of Applied Science and Technology and listed among the top 1% of scientists worldwide, stated that the goal of employment is to transform individuals into productive contributors. He emphasized that the university must reclaim its role as a provider of higher education and ensure that each graduate possesses at least five key skills required to enter the job market, industry, and society with confidence.
He also expressed the full readiness of the Energy Management Research Center to collaborate with the university, especially in areas such as energy optimization, as well as the design, implementation, and installation of solar panels for buildings and industries, using their shared resources and expertise.
In turn, Dr. Kiomars Sefidi expressed his appreciation for Professor Shayegi’s impactful presence and acknowledged the university's flexibility in developing skills-oriented educational programs in various specialized fields. He noted that this adaptability, combined with collaboration with academics and scientists, plays a crucial role in solving societal problems.
The Head of the Ardabil Provincial Branch of the university also emphasized the proximity of the university’s training programs to industry, adding that in a time when not only Iran but the entire world is facing energy challenges, it is imperative to take advantage of expert presence in academia. He stressed the importance of designing and delivering training programs in collaboration with scholars and professionals to equip students and graduates across disciplines with the necessary skills.
Professor Shayegi concluded by reaffirming the Energy Management Research Center’s readiness to collaborate in all related fields, backed by its expert faculty and technical capabilities.
