The Counselor for Science and Technology of French Embassy, Mr. LHOTHE Pierre-Andre, visited the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili on Tuesday, September, 27, 2016.
In a meeting with UMA officials, Mr. Pierre-Andre expressed his interest in triggering the cooperation between French universities and research centers and extending the active role of the French Embassy to the northwest of Iran. He also introduced French Government financial Support of Iranian researchers via Jondi Shapour Plan.
Dr. Goudarz Sadeghi Hashjin, the UMA chancellor, welcomed the Counselor and provided a brief introduction of the university. He also reminded the recent escalation of the international cooperation in UMA due to the new outlook outlined in the past two years.
At the meeting, it is decided and agreed that the Embassy and UMA will cooperate to set out the French Language Teaching courses and Algebra Summer School in UMA with a wide audience in the Northwest. Meanwhile, it was also agreed that the French Embassy will join the commemoration of the veteran French Language Translator, Reza Seyyed Hosseini, in February, 2017.
The French Embassy Counselor for science and technology also promised to facilitate the presence of university community members from UMA and French universities in the academic events.
Dr. Alebrahim, the UMA Director of Public and International Relations, also highlighted the potential areas of cooperation in science and technology, specifically in agriculture which is a widespread activity in Ardabil Province.
